Getting it up and running in your computer...

'Quick Install':

Aptana Studio 3 (Beta)

Just grab it preinstalled from:
http://aptana.com/products/studio3/download

Update Manager

Go to the update manager (Help > Install New Software) and add:

http://pydev.org/updates or

http://pydev.org/nightly

and follow the Eclipse steps.

Zip File

An alternative is just getting the zip file and extracting it yourself in eclipse.

For Eclipse 3.4 - 3.7, you can extract it in the 'dropins' folder (and restart Eclipse).

For Eclipse 3.2 and 3.3, you have to make sure the plugins folder is extracted on top of the Eclipse plugins folder and restart with '-clean'.

Important

First time users are strongly advised to read the Getting started guide which explains how to properly configure PyDev.

Requirements

At least one of:

Python (2.1 or newer)
Jython (2.1 or newer)
IronPython (2.6 or newer)

and

Aptana Studio 2, Aptana Studio 3 (Beta) or Eclipse (3.2 to 3.7)
- Python and IronPython require only the Platform Runtime Binary (download around 45-50 MB), and Jython also requires JDT.
Java 5 or higher

Important

PyDev is now preinstalled in Aptana Studio 3.
For using the Django Templates editor, Aptana Studio 3 is required.
If PyDev is used with Aptana Studio 3, it cannot be installed or updated separately (Aptana Studio 3 must always be updated as a whole)
